“Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these immoderate rains with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen.”
-G.S. Patton, Jr., Lieutenant General
Commanding, Third United States Army

I voted for it before I voted against it.

What makes a soldier great?  No, it’s not academic stature.  It’s courage, valor, and training (probably in that order as well).  Academic stature is just icing on the cake.  All the military personnel I’ve had the honor to meet have all these traits with a lot of icing to boot.

I’m just glad I never found myself in a foxhole with the likes of John Kerry.

Ayeeeeeeeeee

Watching “Wild Kingdom” inspires you to write a cookbook.

You won’t eat a lobster because you think it’s a crawfish on steroids.

You take a bite of 5-alarm Texas chili and reach for some Tabasco.

You pass up a chance to meet the president to go to the Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge

Kill for Allah

Radical Islam has managed to make enemies of virtually every country, religion, social group, race, and political party in the world as of result of its murderous tactics, lack of empathy, and relentless attacks on everything this world holds sacred.  I estimate that within the next ten years, their total alienation (not annihilation) of the world will be complete.

Future Shock

I found this little interesting piece on the DEBKAfile web site the other day:

DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources report that Ahmadinejad also talked persuasively to Chavez about making a show of deploying a few Iranian-made 2,000-km range Shahab-3 missiles – first in Venezuela then in Cuba – as a menace to the United States.

I live in south Louisiana.  Venezuela is only 1800 miles or 2900 kilometers from my home.  If Chavez agrees to allow Ahmadinejad to have launching capabilities from his soil, I’m toast.  Cuba would be even closer.  I don’t like it and I certainly hope our military won’t allow it.

Don't mess with Bubba.

Michael Moore’s so-called documentary, Farenheit 9/11, was dubbed as a factual account in it’s relentless and hate-filled attack of President George Bush and his administration.  The factual fictional documentary story was heralded by the political left as a groundbreaking account of an out of control President.  Furthermore, the film was embraced by the Democratic Party and was used as a rallying cry in the 2004 Presidential elections.

Mainstream Media Gives Us a Faux-cane Print E-mail

Hurricane makes golf difficult in South Florida.

Having ‘weathered’ more hurricanes than I care to admit, I noticed a recent trend in storm reporting by our beloved news media.  Since Hurricane Katrina, and we’ve had worse before, the news media has become a bit hyperactive in their coverage of tropical storms.

Barney's First Press Conference Print E-mail

Barney the Bush Dog.

Barney, the President's dog, held his first press conference the other day.  The nation's First Dog answered a variety of questions from the Washington press corps and impressed all with his understanding of current issues involving unwed parents, gay sex, public nudity, and leash laws.

Semper Fi

A guy walks into a 7-11 and asks for a carton of cigarettes.  The clerk hands him one and he leaves without paying.  That's when his world took a turn for the worse.

The clerk told another female clerk who followed him outside the doors and told him to stop.  Instead, the man turned around and punched the clerk in the face, Quezada said.  James Sjostrom was standing in line right behind the man who took the cigarettes and saw the entire thing unfold.  “He just turned and clocked her,” Sjostrom said. “He pounded her face. It was pretty vicious.”

You can run but you can't hide.

The House of Representives is right.  We need to secure our borders first and worry about immigration reform later.  The feds have a constitutional obligation to get this invasion under control.  There's plenty of immigration law already on the books that need enforcement and funding.
