Your car will like it too.

Yep, that’s right.  The only thing better than a little alcohol is a lot of alcohol.  No, not the drinking kind, although it’s basically drinkable.  I’m talking about the burning kind for your car.  It’s the 170 proof stuff commonly called E85.  Unfortunately, most people don’t drink it because it’s denatured with 15% gasoline.  Some may try, but not for long.

If only my car could burn E85.  Most cars manufactured today would suffer fuel system damage from the corrosive effects of alcohol.  Those that are designed to tolerate the alcohol will burn a lot of E85 looking for a service station that even sells the stuff.

What’s wrong with this picture?  Why should I even want to burn E85 in my car?

Well, for one thing, it’s not coming from the Mideast.  It’s comes from bonafide American farmers and distilled into high grade ethanol using Kentucky technology.  Under this arrangement, I get my fuel and our farmers get my cash.  As an added bonus, there’s a good chance the money won’t be used to blow up our brave young soldiers.

Even the environmentalists can climb aboard the E85 bandwagon without betraying the liberal media.  This fuel not only burns cleaner, it’s doesn’t add more carbon dioxide to our cooling impaired atmosphere.  Growing corn removes carbon dioxide from the atmosphere via photosynthesis.  Burning alcohol sends it back.  Just think, Al Gore may become a thing of the past.

Imagine a new world based upon E85.  We can stop oil imports PERIOD.  The Mideast would lose its funding for terrorism and we could just not give a damn about their politics anymore.  Farmers would become the wealthy sheiks and farm foreclosures would end. Environmentalists would be free to move onto other issues like the harmful effects of burning 15% gasoline.

This all sounds good to me.  So why isn’t this happening as we speak.  Two things come to mind, auto manufacturers and oil companies.  Auto manufacturers are not turning out enough models that can burn E85 and oil companies are not distributing it.  The Feds only push for more better gas mileage while companies like Exxon Mobil are setting records for profits.  Why not use these profits to convert to E85?  There’s no reason the oil companies can’t be leaders in this effort.

We need a change.  Gasoline may cost a lot, but the cost of war, diplomacy, and foreign aid in the Mideast drives gasoline costs even higher.  We need to send a message to the Mideast that we don’t need them or their oil anymore.

That goes for you too, Mr. Chavez, you damn nutcase.

You can run but you can't hide.

The House of Representives is right.  We need to secure our borders first and worry about immigration reform later.  The feds have a constitutional obligation to get this invasion under control.  There's plenty of immigration law already on the books that need enforcement and funding.
